HOW IT WORKS

Using the ipv4 subnet calculator

Enter an IPv4 address with a CIDR prefix from /0 through /32. The calculator normalizes the network boundary and displays the full allocation. /31 follows point-to-point address behavior; /32 represents a single host.

Real-world example

Example: 192.168.10.25/24 produces the 192.168.10.0 network and 254 traditional usable hosts.

Good to know

A /24 contains 256 total addresses. Most traditional LANs reserve the network address and broadcast address, leaving 254 hosts.
